Good food in an enjoyable atmosphere

We are especially proud to have a good selection of fresh vegetables & fruit, and a varied selection of bread. Where possible we use local suppliers, and we are lucky to have a good butcher in Ringebu and a good baker in nearby Fåvang. There is good hunting in the area of both reindeer & moose and we have plenty of recipes based on game. The local lakes also provide plenty of fish as well as Atnasjøen just over the mountains. We prepare as much of the food as we can ourselves and pride ourselves on good traditional home cooking with some international inspiration.

 

Breakfast 8-10 am: A good Norwegian breakfast buffet with cold meats, cereals, juice, milk & varied breads. Freshly made porridge and fresh fruit

 

Lunch 2-3 pm: In the summer we have a warm meal & salad bar, a choice of desserts, cheese, tea and coffee. In addition we have an a la carte menu and snacks available. On Sundays we have a larger buffet with greater choice. In the winter we alternate daily between a warm lunch meal and a larger buffet.

 

Evening meals 6.30 pm in winter: During the winter season we have a served 3-course meal some evenings, and a buffet the others.  In the summer we have a buffet most evenings and eat at 7 pm.

 

Every Wednesday evening we present our Norwegian Specialities buffet – a variety of traditional food based on fish & game as well as berries & breads. We explain how the foods are made and what they are eaten with. This is a really popular event at Venabu.

We can also cater for people with special diets, gluten free or diabetic.

 

Vegetarian food: We have many vegetarians staying at the hotel an we always have options for those who prefer not to eat meat or fish.

At the end of October/early November we have our traditional post-hunt game buffet.
