”Venabustallen” offers riding trips for all ages and levels. We have tours for those new to riding or with little experience (walking & light trotting), & for those with more experience (trot & gallop). We ride mainly in groups of 10-12, with experienced & friendly guides.

30 minutes of riding, hand led.

For the youngest riders  -  in the terrain around the hotel. A responsible adult must help when young children are to ride. Minimum age 3.

Riding instruction on the riding ground

1 hour with experienced instructors to get the basics of horse riding, or preparation for a trip in the mountains. Designed for beginners, people unsure of their ability, or those who haven’t ridden for a while. We have good instructors who will help you get the most out of a riding lesson. It is recommended that people have an hours instruction before riding in the mountains. A responsible adult to help with small children. Minimum age 6.

1 hour trip

Beginners & experienced trips available. A taster for riding in the mountains. Minimum age 8.

2 hour trip

Beginners & experienced trips available. A chance to get into the mountains and up to nearby local summits, depending on weather and the ability of the group. Age limit 12 (10 for experienced riders).

3 hour trip

Beginners & experienced trips available. A real chance to explore the mountains, either on the plateau, over the tops or in the birch forest, depending on the weather. Age limit 12 (10 for experienced riders).

Day trip with lunch at summer farm

Three hours of riding in the mountains to the summer farm of Lykkjesetra. Excellent views along the way, both of Rondane & Jotunheimen. A traditional lunch is served at the summer farm, where we hear all about the traditions and history. After a break, we ride back through idyllic birch forest which takes a couple of hours.

Day trip with lunch over an open fire

A real chance to explore the mountains, either on the plateau, over the tops, to canyons & waterfalls or in the birch forest. If the weather is good we head for Venabu's grand canyon at “Dørjuvet” towards where the wild reindeer inhabit. After three hours of riding we prepare a fire and enjoy lunch and freshly made coffee cooked over the flames. Two hour ride back to the hotel.

Torchlit Sleigh Rides

An additional activity to our riding in the winter. This is a real experience, and one you shouldn’t miss. The trip takes about half an hour.

Practical information about riding
