a unique cultural experience

The Peer Gynt Festival at Gålå is one of Norway’s premier outdoor cultural events. The performance is staged in an outdoor auditorium with Gålåvatnet, Gålå’s lake, as the backdrop. This theatre was specially built for staging Peer Gynt and it incorporates the drama of the natural surroundings and summer light. Much creativity goes into creating an original set and staging for each cycle of shows to give a truly unique theatrical experience. For international visitors the performance has interpretation in a number of languages so that you can follow all the action.

For 2025 production Erik Ulfsby returns to direct along with the creative team responsible for the acclaimed 2014- 2016 production. Mads Ousdal also returns to the role of Peer Gynt.
