Packing list for our

  • Classic Cross Country Ski Holiday
  • Learn to Cross Country Ski Holiday
  • Become a Better Skier Holiday

Clothing and equipment: Our blog articles have lots of useful information on clothing for cross country skiing.

– Base layers – long sleeve and wicking
– Ski or walking socks – you may like to bring a choice of socks to get the best fit in your hire boots.
– Mid layers eg fleece or wool tops
– Trousers – cross country ski trousers or walking trousers – synthetic fabric, warm, breathable, windproof
– Waterproof breathable jacket, ideally with a hood – essential
– Waterproof overtrousers for snowy days
– Hat (sun hat optional for sunny days in spring)
– Gloves – we strongly recommend bringing more than one pair. See our blog for more information on gloves, especially if you get cold hands.
– Buff or scarf
– Sunglasses (ski goggles don’t work well for cross country skiing as they fog), sunscreen (high factor at least 30 recommended) and lip protection
– Duvet jacket, for cold weather we recommend down
– Consider your outdoor footwear – shoes or boots with grip on the sole. Walking boots (with good ankle support) are an option – if you intend to join the snowshoe tour you may prefer to have your own boots. Trekking shoes are unsuitable for snowshoeing. You can wear your cross country ski boots for snowshoeing.
– Clothes and footwear for daytime and evening in the hotel

– Rucsac 25-30 l. Ideally with a chest strap and waist belt – you will need to be able to swap layers, carry a drink and a snack and perhaps a piece of group equipment.
– Waterproof cover for your rucsac or dry bags to keep your things dry inside your rucsac.
– Small thermos flask 0.5 – 0.75l.
– Water Bottle – hydration system tubes usually freeze (our tap water is of excellent quality and for environmental reasons we ask guests to bring a refillable bottle)
– Headtorch – optional, useful if staying in a cabin
– Whistle

– Travel documents including insurance documents
– Personal medication
– Blister plasters eg Compeed
– Small personal first aid kit

Optional extras:
– Favourite snacks – you can also make a mid-morning snack at breakfast
– Sandwich box
– Hand warmers (you can buy these locally)
– Gaiters – optional for snowshoeing and snowy days.
– Swimsuit if you choose to wear one in the sauna
– Toiletries
– Travel plug adapter suitable for Norway
– Camera/books/music

Hairdryers for guests’ use are available in a small cupboard in each corridor. Please return them after use.
