Insurance
Participation in equestrian activities is at your own risk.
You are responsible for having accident insurance that covers riding/equestrian activities. Venabustallen has liability insurance for its services. This means that any damage that may occur is covered when it can be shown that the centre has acted negligently, and not otherwise.
We strongly recommend that our guests take out their own travel insurance.
Riding tour and holiday grades
Venabustallen offers horse riding tours and holidays for riders of all experience levels. We offer four grades of tour, summarised below; more detail can be found here.
Tour with a leader, one of our staff members, walking alongside – The trip takes place at a walk and is intended for young children and anxious adults/adults with special needs.
Walk – The tour takes place at a walk. The group will only trot if the guide judges that it is suitable for the whole group, and only if everyone in the group wants to trot. Tours at this level do not require any prior knowledge, but children under 10 years of age must have a lesson before they can ride on a tour.
Trot – The trip will take place at a walk, with some trotting. To participate, riders must be comfortable controlling the horse at a trot.
Canter – The trip will mainly take place at a walk, with sections in trot and canter. To participate, you must be competent at canter in open spaces.
The start of the ride: meeting up and payment
Meet at Venabustallen about 15 minutes before the ride starts. Our travel page can be found here.
You can pay by card (debit and most types of credit cards) at the stables. Payment must be made before the ride.
Hygiene
Remember to limit any risk of infection between different herds! We ask that everyone who rides with us wears clean clothes and footwear, and is careful with hand hygiene.
We ask everyone to ride with gloves and otherwise maintain good hand hygiene. We have gloves for sale for NOK 35,- per pair. All of the stables’ equipment is regularly cleaned.
When you book a riding trip, you will receive information about any other measures that apply at that time.
Equipment
Everyone must wear a helmet and gloves on our tours.
We have helmets available for loan. We also recommend riding in shoes/boots that go above the ankle and have a slight heel.
It can be both cold and wet in the mountains, so remember to wear warm clothes!
You can find our packing list for riding holidays here (in Norwegian, English version coming soon).
Weight limit
Most horses have a weight limit of around 100kg.
Acceptance of risk
Venabustallen has liability insurance for its services. This means that any damage that may occur is covered only when it can be shown that the centre has acted negligently, and not otherwise. We recommend that our guests take out travel insurance that covers equestrian acitvities.
Please note that our tours involve a risk of hazardous situations and accidents. As a client, you must accept that you participate at your own risk. Venabustallen cannot be held responsible for any damage you may incur on a horseback riding trip or during activities/care of the horses.
For example, if a horse steps on you, startles, jumps to the side, stumbles or similar. Venabustallen or our tour leaders will not be held responsible for any damage you may incur.
Cancellation Policy
For individuals
Cancellation of a riding trip must be made no later than 18.00h the day before the trip. We are very busy, so we ask that you cancel as early as possible.
If you cancel after the deadlines, you will be invoiced for the trip in full.
For groups
For groups of more than 5 people, the cancellation deadline will vary depending on the season, it will be stated in your confirmation which deadline applies.
For riding holidays, different deadlines apply. If you choose not to participate in all the trips in a package, you will still have to pay the full price.
Cancellation by Venabustallen
Occasionally we may have to cancel a trip at short notice in the event of illness of a horse or tour guide, or if weather conditions that make riding unsafe. In the event of such a cancellation on our part, you will of course not have to pay. If we are able to offer riding on another day instead, we will do our best to make this happen. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee this. Venabu is not responsible for any costs you may incur in connection with your stay or transport here, even in the event of a sudden cancellation of the trip.
